Story Time With A Difference #2 : Use Things and Love People. Not Vice Versa!

How many times have you felt like you have been used by someone for their own selfish needs? You always thought they loved, but the truth is, they were using you like a tool to get their tasks done. How many times have you wished you were his iphone or you were her makeup kit so that she would love you too?

Here’s a story that reminds an important message :

Use Things and Love People. Not Vice Versa!

It was a pleasant evening, when a young and happy couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary. They enjoyed the sea breeze over a candle light dinner and walked barefoot, holding hands, along the sands of the beach..reminiscing all their adventures together in the past 5 years. On their way home, they stopped in their favorite spot and decided to exchange gifts.

The wife gifted her husband, his favorite book’s rare edition! He felt so special and overjoyed. After relishing the moment of joy over receiving such a precious gift, the man handed his wife a key.

Yes, a key to a brand new car worth a million dollars! The wife was speechless and overwhelmed by his choice of gift! He asked her to go for a ride on her new car. She was super excited that she hopped into it right away!

It hadn’t been even 10 minutes since she left, the man heard sirens blaring and ambulance vehicle rushing towards the same direction. Panic stricken, the man immediately rushed to the spot and noticed that the very same car had met with an accident and it was rammed, shapeless! It looked like a piece of junk in the middle of the road. Right next to the car, he saw his wife, standing, shocked, scared but safe. She had only a few bruises on her arms and forehead. But the million dollar car was crushed into rubble!

She stood there feeling utterly guilty over damaging such an expensive car within few minutes of buying it! She couldn’t even see her husband’s face. She was cursing herself for being so careless. But the man ran towards her, gave her a tight hug and said “Thank you for being safe. I love you. Not the car. Not the money. We can buy another vehicle. There’s never another you“..

THE END

The next time when your best friend or your loved one loses or damages your prized possession, an object that might mean a lot to you but can be bought by money; remember : You ‘love’ people and not the things. You only ‘use’ things, not people.

What’s Wrong In Reusing? How Old Is Too Old? Should A Pretty Outfit Be Expensive?

Too many questions. Too many doubts. Lets take one by one.

You spend thousands of bucks on one party-wear only to wear it once? What’s wrong in reusing? Especially girls, find it too hard to wear the same shoes, outfits and accessories because they don’t want the same set of people to see them in the same clothing!

My question is, if they can see “the same YOU” for decades, why shouldn’t they see you in the same outfit once again?

What's Wrong In Reusing?
What’s Wrong In Reusing?

I really love the way Duchess Of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and the US First Lady, Michelle Obama, changed the entire idea. They have repeated a number of accessories and outfits on various occasions, mixed and matched them with different style and hairdo. They just made recycling and reusing a new style statement!

People who are under the limelight and spotted by reporters and cameras, round the clock, googled by the entire world; wear the same outfits and accessories. Why shouldn’t you and I?

Next, How old is too old? When do you call something old and out of fashion?

How Old Is Too Old?
How Old Is Too Old?

Recently my friend lost his mobile phone and so until he bought a new one, he had to use his old phone which he used until last year. He said it is too old! How does a phone which you used till last year is too old now???

So I told him, “you know me for almost 7 years now, am over couple of decades old too!”

He said a mobile is different, the old phone has no upgrades!

So I said,“well, am from the same homosapiens for millions of years with almost no upgrades.! “

You go into a store, get the latest model-mobile phone for which you have been saving up for few months, come out of the store and there is new upgraded version of the same phone! Now your new phone becomes way too old and out of trend?

I just don’t get it.

Finally, Should A Pretty Outfit Be Expensive?

For this I would say, the best example would be Kang So Ra’s MAMA Red Carpet outfit! She wore this simple and gorgeous $30 dress while presenting at the 2014 Mnet Asia Music Awards. How cool!

Should A Pretty Outfit Be Expensive?
Should A Pretty Outfit Be Expensive?

Sometimes “pretty” is not in the clothes, it is in your face. And a pretty face does not depend on the gold facial that you did the previous night but your happiness and peace of mind.

People get carried away by brands and prices. Ah.. They tend to forget the fact that;

You should be respected for what you are and not for what you wear.

Too many questions,..indeed.
